The Great Literary Purge

Subject
Why no document on the continent predates 761 years ago
Evidence
Archaeology proves habitation for many thousands of years
The Anomaly
The oldest reliably dated manuscript is exactly 761 years old
Status
Unexplained. Fabrications and agendas are suspected

No document written more than 761 years ago survives anywhere on Aropria. Archaeology proves the continent has been inhabited for many thousands of years, and yet the oldest reliably dated manuscript is exactly 761 years old — and its contents are unremarkable.

This is the Great Literary Purge, and it is the hardest fact in the continent's history: everything before it is inference.

What is suspected

That the gap is deliberate. Whoever removed the record left the ordinary documents of one particular year and nothing before it, which is not what fire or neglect does. Fabrications and agendas are assumed; none has been proved.
